These are the first words I am puting into the cyber world. I want to begin my blog on a high note- Vans Warped Tour.
WHAT IN THE WORLD IS VANS WARPED TOUR? Basically, it’s a 10 hour festival which has the sole purpose of entertaining teenagers with all the subgenres of rock music. The sounds of hundreds of bands absorb the air and draw crowds. It’s a festival to see some of your favorite bands, while likewise finding those bands that are hidden treasures, who hope to expand their fanbase and get their music into the hearts of more listeners.
This year, some of the headlining bands were the All-American Rejects, 3OH!3, Sum 41, We the Kings, and Never Shout Never. After seeing that, I was immediately sold to go. Among those, I only watched the performance for We the Kings, but I was content with that. Up until their performance, I was either pleasantly surprised or disappointed in several bands I had never heard of before. Although I wasn’t able to see all of the nearly 100 bands that played at Warped, these specific bands will definitely be finding a new home in my iPod, and who knows, perhaps they will find their way into yours as well.
1. I Can Make A Mess Like Nobody’s Business– Definitely my favorite newbies at the show. I was shockingly infatuated by their pleasant melodies, and unlike most of the bands at Warped,they used a piano. Their music swam through the airwaves, dove into my ears, and lingered in my veins, leaving impression heavier than any other new band I watched at the show. If you like Copeland, Dashboard Confessional, indie bands that are similar, or are just looking for something new, find these guys on iTunes and you won’t regret it.
2. You Me At Six– These British crooners drew quite the crowd. In all honesty, what was first magnetic about them was their charming and enchanting British accents. They certainly proved their accents weren’t all they have to offer. Their music was likewise inviting. They sound faintly similar to both the All-American Rejects and Between the Trees, but still have originality and personality.
3. Third Time’s a Charm– These guys were pretty decent. Their sound does, I admit, fall short in originality of sound, resembling an exact reflection of All Time Low. Despite that, they doubtlessly have an engaging sound and dazzling lyrics, and a few of their songs are surely becoming some of my favorites.
4. Disco Curtis– Find their cover of Lady Gaga’s “Just Dance”. 🙂 Although their sound is, again, nothing I haven’t heard, they’re convivial and upbeat, and the rhythm is contagious.
And VOILA! Those are my top picks for favorite finds at Warped tour.
